Deiva Thirumagal wins accolades at OSAKA ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL

UTV’s Deiva Thirumagal wins two prestigious awards on the Osaka Asian Film Festival 2012 in Japan

- Wins the Grand Prix Award for Best Film and ABC Award for Best Entertainer–

Chennai, March 19th, 2012: The Osaka Asian Film Festival, held in Japan from March 9th – March 18th, saw Deiva Thirumagal, a film by UTV Films and Sree Rajakaliamman Medias, proudly walk away with two prominent awards announced on 18th March 2012

Directed by AL Vijay starring “Chiyaan” Vikram together with Anushka Shetty, Amala Paul, Santhanam, Nasser and M.S. Bhaskar within the lead roles won the Grand Prix Award for Best Film and in addition bagged an award for the most efficient Entertaining Film (ABC award) of the Festival on the Osaka Asian Festival.

Speaking on these accolades, G. Dhananjayan, Chief – South Business, UTV Films said, “We are really proud that Deiva Thirumagal have been conferred with two prestigious awards. A MOVIE that witnessed both critical acclaim and commercial success, has now managed to win the hearts on the film festival to boot. UTV is currently working with this successful actor “Chiyaan” Vikram – director Vijay duo for his or her next tentpole release – ‘Thaandavam’, that is touted to be one the most important entertainers of 2012. The film is under shooting and is predicted to be a August 2012 release.

The Osaka Asian Film Festival is held yearly, for the needs of developing Osaka’s moving image culture, presenting town as a cultural center and facilitating exchange and human resources development. The festival offers a possibility to observe excellent Asian films and this year, the Cineastes Organization Osaka (CO2) joined OAFF, in a commitment to nurture young filmmakers in addition to build networks with international filmmakers, and to introduce Osaka-made films to overseas viewers. The Grand Prix award is given to the most efficient film a number of the Competition films, as selected by the jury and the ABC Award is a sponsor award given by Asahi Broadcasting Corporation, a member of the OAFF Executive Committee, to essentially the most entertaining film among all participating new films.
